MAM Software today announced that Exide has installed Automate to manage and publish its catalogue data. The catalogue data management solution will help Exide to significantly improve the quality of its product data and help to promote its new range of hybrid car batteries, as well as its existing Excell and Premium ranges, which cover the rest of the UK vehicle parc.

Exide is one of the world's largest producers, distributors and recyclers of lead-acid batteries. The company will use Automate to standardise information across its UK range, which includes micro-hybrid batteries for start-stop vehicles and 'parts of matching quality'. Automate will also help Exide to identify gaps in its coverage and contribute accurate data to MAM's Autocat+ parts catalogue on a regular basis.

Incorporating MAM's unique Makes and Models Index (MMI), Automate will enable Exide to update its data on a daily basis, developing a consistent structure which will improve catalogue matching and increase customer confidence. Exide will also supply product visuals and dimensions, making it even easier for users to identify the correct battery. Automate will verify Exide's data, produce reject reports and perform gap analysis. It will also highlight new UK vehicle models and facilitate the conversion of data arriving from its European headquarters.

"At Exide, we recognise the importance of accurate catalogue data, both for our customers and the garages they serve" said Craig Everett, UK Marketing Manager at Exide Technologies. "As a global supplier, our standard product data is geared towards the European market. Automate's unique Makes and Models Index is dedicated to the UK vehicle parc and will allow us to tailor our data to meet local requirements."

"We have also taken this opportunity to ensure that data for the rest of our products is fully up to date and MMI compliant, including our Exide Excell and Exide Premium ranges, providing our customers and their customers with the peace of mind that all of Exide's data is as accurate as possible."

"We are delighted that Exide have chosen Automate to increase the quality of their catalogue data" said MAM Software's Ian Penny. "Accurate data means fewer catalogue errors and reduced returns for factors and garages. This increases customer confidence, which results in increased sales. We are pleased that Automate will play a significant role in helping Exide enhance its offering and improve its customer service."
