As part of their on-going campaign to improve catalogue data, representatives of MAM recently met with GAU and TRW to discuss ways of improving the product information that is featured in MAM's Autocat+ parts catalogue.

TRW products Using real-life examples provided by the GAU, a number of measures have been identified and implemented that will make significant improvements to the TRW data that appears in Autocat+. These include a data cleansing exercise, increased submission frequency, new data matching processes, and enhanced mismatch reporting.

"This has been a productive series of meetings" said Juergen Mehlis, European Application Data Supervisor at TRW. "With the help of the GAU we've been able to identify the steps we need to take in order to achieve more accurate and up-to-date catalogue data. We have instigated a data cleansing program and have already worked through thousands of applications.  This will make a huge difference to the data on Autocat+. "

"We are continuing our drive to improve data quality and reduce the time-to-market" comments MAM's Managing Director, Mike Jamieson. "The measures we have identified and implemented with TRW will provide significant benefits to our mutual customers."

Jim Mazza, GAU Managing Director, hopes that more suppliers will follow suit.  "For a GAU Member, accurate product identification is key to keeping the customer happy and improving efficiency. With accurate and up-to-date information comes greater loyalty to the supplier and an increase in sales. I can't believe that any supplier doesn't want to grow his business – I'm just surprised that this obvious relatively low cost opportunity isn't taken more into consideration!"
