This year MAM Software is celebrating 21 years of providing reliable and innovative software products to motor factors, retailers and distributors throughout the UK. To mark this landmark occasion, MAM is releasing several new products at the Automotive Trade Show.

First to be unveiled is MAM Software’s latest version of their Autocat electronic catalogue. Meeting the demand for faster, more accurate parts identification, the new Autocat+ application is designed to deliver the performance, precision and reliability necessary to address the growing proliferation of aftermarket part numbers.

In contrast to traditional electronic catalogues, Autocat+ employs state-of-the-art Web services technology to retrieve information from central database servers hosted on the Internet. As a result, Autocat+ users no longer have to wait for CD-based updates to gain access to the latest information. Using powerful software developed in-house, MAM continually process, verify and standardise supplier product data and upload it to the central data servers. This means that the publication of updates and amendments will be achieved in a matter of days, not months.

Autocat+ will feature alongside Autopart v20, MAM’s latest release of its popular factor management system (FMS). This latest version, developed using Visual Basic .Net and built on SQL server databases, provides many new tools and features that make a compelling case for upgrading from earlier versions or competitive systems. Redeveloped to take advantage of the latest Microsoft® Windows® technologies, v20 offers significant operational, managerial and administrative benefits.

Also making its show debut is MAM’s new range of mobile applications developed for Microsoft® Windows® powered mobile devices. Combining the power of a lightweight, voice-enabled PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) with the latest Web services technology, MAM's new ‘van sales’ and ‘eImpress’ applications save suppliers valuable time when selling products directly from a remote stock location such as a van or administering the stock held at their clients' premises.

Visitors can also see how the latest Internet technology is shaping the future of the industry with illustrations of website and e-business solutions. Using e-business services, MAM will be demonstrating how the purchasing process for motor components can be shortened, simplified and even automated. MAM will show that by handling orders electronically, e-business saves times, cuts administrative overheads and reduces the incidence of errors.
