PACT logoMAM Software today announced its full support for the 'Partnership for Aftermarket Connectivity Technologies' (PACT) recently launched by TecCom UK Ltd and ABS eparts. This ground-breaking initiative by the two former competitors aims to connect their exchanges and make electronic trading easier for all in the automotive aftermarket.

"MAM has long been an advocate of electronic trading" explained MAM Managing Director Mike Jamieson. "However, one of the major obstacles hindering its uptake has been the number of disparate trading solutions vying for the same business. This was a confusing situation for many of our customers, who often found themselves having to implement multiple standards in order to connect their range of suppliers, customers and partners."

"Any initiative that removes the confusion over compatibility and simplifies the technical requirements can only be good for the aftermarket" continued Jamieson. "As the UK's largest provider of management software to both motor factors and parts suppliers, we're conscious of our role in facilitating electronic trading. We're currently discussing how, as software providers, we can help promote this new initiative and further encourage the uptake of electronic trading".

MAM is well positioned to take full advantage of the PACT announcement - both TecCom and eparts are already fully supported by its existing software.

"In terms of software development, there is not a great deal for us to do"
concluded Jamieson. "Our own 'Autonet' product - which essentially acts as a translator between our software and the outside world - is already compatible with both TecCom and eparts. The PACT umbrella will inspire renewed confidence and help us actively promote electronic trading as an extremely valuable business tool."
