MAM Software today announced that Pitstop Auto Factors has installed Autopart to manage its trade and retail operation. It is the company's first computer system, having previously employed a completely manual process where all stock and account information was merely memorised by the company’s owner, David Way. The power and versatility of Autopart has enabled Pitstop to improve inventory control, enhance productivity and increase profitability.
Commenting on his decision to computerise his business, David Way said "We had resisted an on-site computer solution for years. We have used MAM Software’s Autocat+ system since 2008 but never installed any form of business management software, instead choosing to invest in new stock. Up until now all information on stock levels and part details had just been committed to memory, which served us well enough before the business entered a period of continued growth."
"As the business grew, we began dealing with larger amounts of stock, hiring more staff and serving more customers, and as a result our old system became increasingly unmanageable. The final straw came when a sales rep was shocked that we couldn’t provide him with a stock report; a task which would have taken a matter of seconds in Autopart. After visiting MAM at a trade show in October 2010, we placed an order the following month."
"We were advised by MAM to prepare thoroughly prior to implementation. This task was initially quite daunting – unlike most similar businesses we were not simply changing or upgrading computer systems – but after spending some time creating profiles for every item of stock, the MAM implementer commented that ours was one of the most straightforward implementations he had ever worked on."
"Autopart has changed so many aspects of our business for the better. Stock availability can now be accessed instantly, as can alternative products and detailed customer sales histories, providing our counter staff with a wealth of information that simply wasn’t at their disposal before. MAM were also able to integrate two home links, for my bookkeeper and myself, allowing us to keep an eye on the business even when we’re unable to be there in person."
"We have been using Autopart for six months now, and my only regret is that we didn’t install it years ago."
"Autopart’s business management software is designed to meet the specific needs of a wide range of businesses" said Mike Jamieson, Managing Director of MAM Software. "Parts suppliers, wholesale distributors and accessory retailers all benefit from Autopart’s wealth of functionality. While it offers extensive capabilities, it remains intuitive enough for companies such as Pitstop - who have never used business management software before - to see an immediate return on their investment."
