MAM backs Right to Repair Campaign

MAM Software announces its support for the Right to Repair Campaign and the freedom of access to parts and information

MAM Software, the UK's leading provider of aftermarket I.T. solutions, is supporting the Right to Repair Campaign (R2RC) –created by the independent automotive aftermarket in response to potential changes in legislation in Europe that could drive all repair work into the vehicle manufacturers franchised dealerships.

The current Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (BER) grants independent workshops access to the parts and information needed for servicing or repairing a car. This regulation expires in 2010 and if it is not renewed, vehicle manufacturers will have the scope to make it increasingly difficult for the independent repairer to diagnose and fix faults.

"Everyone within the aftermarket is at risk – MAM included" explained Mike Jamieson, MAM Software's Managing Director. "Without access to the right technical information or replacement parts, independent repairers will be driven out of business. If this happens, there will be grave consequences for motor factors and parts distributors, who make up the majority of our customers."

"For the sake of everyone in the industry, it is essential that the regulation is renewed in 2010. We're giving our full backing to the Right to Repair Campaign and will encourage all our customers and colleagues to do so too".
