Dunmow Motor FactorsMAM Software, the largest provider of systems and data to the UK aftermarket, has reported that its customers have successfully implemented the change in VAT recently announced by the Chancellor. Thousands of businesses, including motor factors, fastfits, workshops and bodyshops, undertook the necessary amendments to their systems by following instructions provided by MAM's Support Services department.

"Every one of our customers was affected by this change" explained Robin Darnell, MAM Software's Director of Support Services. "As soon as we heard the Chancellor's announcement, we worked very hard to ensure our customers could make the necessary changes to their software as quickly and easily as possible. We were in constant contact with our customers by e-mail and through our website, and we drafted in extra support staff to cope with increased volumes of phone calls and messages."

"We had to consider the entire impact of the change" continued Mr Darnell. "We therefore developed a simple procedure that would help customers not only change their new invoices, but also update all their mid-process transactions including quotations, suspended transactions, pick notes, back orders, Christmas club and job sheets. "

Over the month-end period, visitors to MAM's website increased six-fold. 2,383 e-mails were sent and over 2,350 documents were downloaded. Calls to the support department over the weekend were ten-times their normal level. Over 2,200 calls were taken on Monday, with 244 calls handled in the half-hour between 9:00 and 9:30.

Shepshed Auto SparesMAM's support of the VAT change has been warmly welcomed by its customers. "MAM have addressed the whole VAT issue very well" said Spencer Parkin from Shepshed Auto Spares in Leicestershire. "Their support department have been very helpful". Richard Bonner at Dunmow Motor Factors in Essex agreed "I'm very thankful to MAM for all their help with the VAT change - it all went very smoothly."
