MAM Software has announced that Universal Automotive has employed the MAM makes and models index (MMI) to update the application references for its Dayco brand of power transmission systems. By matching the entire index against Dayco's existing part numbers, Universal Automotive has improved the accuracy of the part references within MAM's Autocat+ all-makes parts catalogue.
Universal Automotive is one of the key distributors of O.E. quality products in the UK. Based in the West Midlands, it supplies motor factors across the UK with a next day delivery service. Universal is the Master Distributor for Dayco products in the UK. One of the world's most recognised brands of automotive products, the Dayco range includes timing belts and kits, auxiliary belts and kits, fan belts, water pump kits, dampers and tensioners.
"In order to help our customers get the most out of their sales of timing belt and kits, we have made a significant investment in time and resource to completely overhaul and update the Dayco application references on the MAM Autocat+ cataloguing system" said Callum Goodland, Operations Director at Universal Automotive.
"One immediate benefit is a reduction in the number of application references that list multiple belt options for the vehicle. This will bring our customers efficiency savings as they will not have to send garages more than one reference to fit the application in question" he continued.
Following the data update, Universal Automotive is also introducing additional Dayco product data into Autocat+ to further assist its customers. Available from June, this will include technical bulletins, cross reference applications, OE part numbers and competitor references.
The final elements of the data overhaul will come to fruition later in the year when an image of the content of each individual kit will be made available and single tensioners will also be included.
"The key to successful catalogue management is the deployment of a common makes and models index" said Rod Field, Catalogue Data Manager at MAM Software "As more suppliers like Universal use the MAM index, we're beginning to see a standard emerging. By using a common vehicle index, suppliers can simplify their data management, deploy cross references and they can also identify gaps in their range from information contained within the vehicle index's monthly 'changes to index' detail."
