MAM Software advises businesses to begin planning now for the forthcoming VAT change

MAM Software is advising its customers to begin planning now for the impending change in VAT rate. The VAT rate will change to 20% on 4 January 2011, but MAM is recommending companies make their preparations before the Christmas period.

"Businesses should begin planning as soon as possible" explained Robin Darnell, Director of Support Services at MAM Software. "A lack of preparation will hinder the changeover. Much like Christmas shopping, the later you leave it, the busier it gets and the more stressful it becomes. If businesses plan now, they will have ample time to ask questions and understand the processes involved."

Having successfully supervised two VAT changes in recent years, MAM is well versed with procedures. "We have developed a routine that considers the entire impact of the change, yet is quick and easy to implement" Robin Darnell explained. "It will help customers not only update their new invoices, but also amend all their mid-process transactions including quotations, suspended transactions, pick notes, back orders, Christmas club and job sheets."

MAM Software has published a number of detailed factsheets to help its customers implement the change. These can be accessed online at www.mamsoft.co.uk/vatchange
