ROI VAT Change 2012

The standard rate of VAT will increase from 21% to 23% with effect from 1 January 2012. All goods and services currently subject to the standard VAT rate of 21% will be affected by the Budget change. Read more on the Revenue.ie website here.

The change only applies to the standard VAT rate. The increase in the standard rate of VAT will not affect goods and services that are currently subject to the zero rate, the 13.5% reduced rate or the 9% reduced rate. These rates are not being changed in the Budget.

The following steps need to be taken at the end of your last trading day before 1 January 2012. The December dayend/month-end routines will need to have been completed prior to proceeding with these steps.

Software versions

If you are unsure which version of Autopart/Trader you have, please open the software and proceed to the "Help Menu" then select "About". A window will appear which will display several pieces of information, one of which will be headed "Autopart" or "Trader" followed by your version number in brackets:
