UK and Irish VAT changes confirmed

On December 9th, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, delivered his 2009 Pre-Budget Report speech to the House of Commons. He confirmed that the rate of VAT will return to 17.5% from 15% from 1 January 2010 (read more on the Directgov website here).

On the same day, Brian Lenihan, Ireland's Minister for Finance, announced that the standard rate of VAT will be decreased from 21.5% to 21% with effect from 1 January 2010 (read more on the Department of Finance website here).

The following steps need to be taken at the end of your last trading day in December 2009. The dayend/month-end routines will need to have been completed prior to proceeding with these steps.

For 'Live on Line' sites this routine can be run once centrally. For Communicating sites this routine will need to be run at each branch location.

You will need some basic Windows skills to be able to 'copy and paste' information to carry out these instructions.

Software versions

Please ensure you download the appropriate document for your software.

If you are unsure which version of Autopart you have, please open Autopart and proceed to the "Help Menu" then select "About". A window will appear which will display several pieces of information, one of which will be headed "Autopart" followed by your version number in brackets:
